Process & Heat Treatment

Heat treatment and process steps determine product safety and shelf life. We build pasteurizers, process tanks, and cooking kettles to your capacity and energy source.

How do you choose the right equipment in this category?

Choose heat treatment equipment by the milk volume you process per day and whether you prefer continuous or batch operation. For continuous flow, a plate HTST pasteurizer handles 1,000–20,000 L/h at 72–75 °C for 15–20 seconds; for batch work, a kettle-type pasteurizer holds 100–2,000 L per batch at 63–65 °C for about 30 minutes.

If milk must be held or mixed after pasteurizing, process tanks are built from 500 to 30,000 L with a dimple jacket and 50–100 mm polyurethane insulation. For cooking dairy products, cooking kettles range from 100 to 1,500 L and reach up to 95–120 °C, with a scraper agitator that keeps the product from sticking to the bottom.

Pick the energy source to match your plant's infrastructure: the pasteurizer can be heated by steam, electricity, or hot water, and the cooking kettle by steam, electricity, or natural-gas-fired thermal oil. On the pasteurizer, PLC control and CIP cleaning make recording and sanitation easier.

Questions about this product

Should I choose a plate pasteurizer or a kettle type? #

Choose a plate pasteurizer for higher daily volumes and continuous flow, and a kettle type if you work in small batches. The plate model covers 1,000–20,000 L/h and the kettle type 100–2,000 L per batch. The plate model also recovers a high share of heat.

At what temperature is milk pasteurized? #

It depends on the method. HTST applies 72–75 °C for 15–20 seconds, while the kettle-type (LTLT) method applies 63–65 °C for about 30 minutes. Afterwards the milk can be cooled to +4 °C with chilled water.

What is the difference between a process tank and a cooking kettle? #

A process tank is a large-volume tank for holding, heating, or cooling milk, while a cooking kettle cooks smaller volumes at high temperature. Process tanks range from 500 to 30,000 L and cooking kettles from 100 to 1,500 L. The kettle has a scraper agitator to prevent sticking.
